Georgia has the least disturbed coast on the eastern seaboard. Due to the location of Georgia in the heart of the South Atlantic Bight (a large indentation in the southeastern coastline stretching from Cape Hatteras in the north to Cape Canaveral in the south), and the continental shelf being far off shore,Georgia's coastline is well protected from major storms, waves and currents. In fact if you look at a map, you will see that the coast line from Brunswick to St. Mary's is the farthermost West coast on the Eastern shore!
